Juniors
What’s it all about…
Junior bowls is a sport for all abilities. It is truly inclusive and is equally suited to those who participate in other sports and those who have not yet found the sport for them. Bowlers with a physical, sensory, or learning disability can compete with or against non-disability bowlers in most situations. The game involves skill development, teamwork, decision making, precision, patience, challenges, exercise, fresh air and lots of fun. If they wish, players can also work towards club awards and take part in competitions.
Sessions are adapted to consider those taking part in terms of age, bowls experience and any individual needs. Each session is run by a qualified Coach with insurance and enhanced DBS clearance who will be assisted by Club volunteers.
The Club takes its safeguarding responsibilities very seriously. We have systems in place to ensure activities at our Club offer an enjoyable and safe experience for all in line with the Bowls England Safeguarding policy which the Club has adopted. Our Safeguarding/Welfare Officer is Barbara Ellison.
When are junior sessions held…
Sessions take place most Sundays from May to September from 10:00 to 11:30 (sessions can be shorter for our youngest bowlers).
What do I need…
The Club has a selection of bowls available for our junior players to use. All you need is a pair of flat soled shoes (trainers), a sun hat and a drink.
What does it cost to be a junior member…
Junior membership costs £15 in the first year for new bowlers and £23 for returning members.
Want to try it out…
Come along for a taster session one Sunday to see what it’s all about. Parents and carers are welcome to accompany junior players and join in the fun too.
