And it’s thanks to…

The London Beach Hotel Spa & Country Club for hosting our annual members celebration lunch on 17 November. Members got together over a delicious lunch to reflect on the fabulous season just gone and to raise much needed funds to keep our lovely club alive and kicking. The Club was presented with a cheque for £1,078 which was made possible by The London Beach Hotel Spa & Country Club and our members.

At the lunch we also took the opportunity to thank Jim for his service to the Club over many years. If you come and visit in the summer, or are passing by the green in the autumn, winter or spring, you'll always see Jim supporting with the many tasks that take place to keep our club looking fabulous throughout the season - the jewel in his crown is his amazing hanging basket displays seen throughout the season at our Club House. Thank you, Jim!

Kudos also went to Dave who was awarded our Chairman's trophy for his amazing contribution to the Club throughout the year. He started the season making six bowls holders, which come in handy to secure wayward bowls when they have ventured into the ditch. He fitted out our bowls storage spaces with shelving, so everything has a place and is easy to find, and most importantly, he put his carpentry skills to excellent use working with Paul and other members to build a ramp to ensure that our Club House is accessible to all. Thank you, Dave!

It's all about the game…

Although the rain made the start of our season a little bit of a challenge, we soon caught up and collectively our members played over 590 matches!

We won 16 of the friendly games played with over 370 individual attendances in these matches alone. Add to this many more at our Thursday Club afternoons and other roll ups, over 150 junior attendances (from in-school and Sunday morning sessions and summer school), our Intergenerational Tournament and our popular Ladies Day where we saw 72 visitors to our Club - it’s been a busy season!

We entered three League teams in 2024, two teams in the Weald League and one in the Maidstone League. Coming 2nd and 6th in the Weald League and 2nd in the Maidstone League was a great result for our small Club and has set us up nicely to see if we can do the same or better in 2025.

Quiz time…

On 30 November the Club hosted its biannual village quiz raising much needed funds for our Club. 74 guests supported us and helped to raise over £300. Thank you to our quiz masters Brian and Christine and to everyone who came along to this fun filled evening.

And last, but not least…

We were proud to be a part of the first Biddenden Christmas Tree festival at All Saints Church. Our tree was adorned with some amazing hand created mini bowls and an array of other themed trinkets. With over 1,000 people visiting the festival over 3 days we loved being a part of what makes Biddenden Village special.

2025…

With the new year and a new season just around the corner, we are busy planning and looking forward to another enjoyable bowls season.
