WATERING - help needed

The sun and warm weather have been wonderful with us all putting away waterproof jackets and fleesy jackets. However the green has quickly dried and daily watering is now essential if we are to keep grass growing, avoid large brown or dead areas and ensure the green continues to play well. For the past 2 weeks Paul B and Jim have been undertaking the watering on an almost daily basis. This may have been as a match ends (and everyone leaves) or with a specific trip to water.

To target the water where is is needed, to avoid wasting water over the surrounding paths and to ensure that all of the green is watered over 2 days a hand held powerful spray is being used. It takes about 10 minutes to set up, 25 minutes to empy the tank and then 10 minutes to turn off/put away. It is not difficult although the hose is heavy and needs to be lifted out of the ditch. Paul, Jim or Kim can show you how it is done and a simple guidance sheet is being prepared.

We cannot expect Paul and Jim to take the full burden of the watering especially as they do so much other work at the green including mowing and maintenance work. If we do not get volunteers, regular watering won't happen which will mean the green will really suffer and deteriorate!!

Ideally the watering needs to be done later afternoon after a home match or club afternoon or during the evening. Once at the green you are committing less than an hour and it really is quite theraputic!

So please let us know if you can join the watering rota and which days/dates would suit you best. You can whatsap me (Kim) on 07795802630) or email [email protected] or speak to Paul or Kim. I look forward to lots of responses.
