December Update
Biddenden Bowls Club
Christmas Quiz - 7th December
Firstly it is great news that the quiz has sold out and we are squeezing in 13 tables. Should be a really good evening with our new Quiz Masters, Brian and Chris, all set to go. There will be a raffle with some excellent prizes. Don't forget to bring your nibbles and drink of choice. Members, friends, families and people from the villlage will be coming. 6.30 for a prompt start at 7.
Sue's Christmas Cake
The cake is finished and looks amazing. If it's as good as last years, which I am sure it is, it is well worth winning. Tickets are £2 each or £5 for 3. You can buy tickets at tomorrow night's quiz. If you are not going but would like to buy some tickets please message Sue J or email [email protected]. This is the third time Sue has baked a cake to raise funds for the club so please get your tickets if you have not already done so. The draw will be made during the Quiz evening.
Ditch Project Update
A great team of volunteers have worked wonders to clear the old concrete ditch liners, remove the rubber and artificial grass on the banks, clear mud and debris from the ditches, turf cut and then lift 1m of grass from around the edges of the green and move the turf. The green is now pretty well ready for the contractor to start in January to redo the ditches and re-lay the grass edges.
There is still work to do as it is planned to sort out the big compost/bonfire heap, level out that area and set up some compost bins, leaf bins and bonfire. Look out for an update on when this is happening.
15+ members have come along to help and despite some very dull and quite chilly conditions the atmosphere and cameraderie has been great. Massive thank you and well done to all of the volunteers. Hope the resultant aches and pains have gone.
There are some great pictures on the club's FaceBook page and on the ditch project page on the website so please do have a look.
Cheese and Wine Supper with live music from the popular and amazingly talented local group "Men without Hens".
Please get the date in your diary. More details will follow soon.
