Lots of our members have now had a go at the BOWLS BASH format or watched it being played. It is without doubt fun, fast and competitive.

Have a look at the Play Bowls Home Page and watch the short videos to find out more. Search for Biddenden Bowls Club on the “Find a Club” and have a look at our page.

Check out our own BOWLS BASH page on our website [there is more background on: What is Bowls Bash? and Why we Need it?]

The committee agreed it was important that we trial this new nationwide initiative from Bowls England and so we have signed up with Bowls Bash and have initially allocated 20 one-hour slots between now and the end of the season:

Thursday 25th August – 2 rinks – 4pm to 7pm

Thursday 1st September – 2 rinks 4pm to 7pm

Friday 9th September – 2 rinks 5pm to 7pm

Saturday 10th September – 2 rinks 10am to noon.

This leaves plenty of space for members for rollup/play whilst allowing us to attract new people to come along. We will know in advance if there are any bookings for a session.

Over 18s will be charged £5 per hour and juniors £1. This is paid directly when they book. (a small admin fee is paid to Bowls England) This recognises that they are paying to play but not taking on the commitments of being a member.

A package of Bowls Bash branded items e.g., jacks, measures, stickers, banner, scorecards, tshirts, etc should arrive shortly.

CAN you help take this forward?

For each slot we need at least 3 members at the green to welcome those who have booked and get them playing.

  • We need friendly club members on each rink to help Bowls Bash players with the simple rules and learn to play.
  • Provide guidance but don’t over-coach. Give us as much information to ensure they can get started successfully, but don’t slow down their experience.
  • Focus on fun and communicate green etiquette clearly but with a light-hearted approach

You do not need to be a coach!! Guidance and resources will be provided

If you can help us cover one or more of the slots and/or would like to help me run this new initiative please contact Kim at [email protected] or via whatsap.
